Luis A. Pacheco Jr.
Born on October 12, 1977 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Soon after, his parents migrated to the U.S. Jr. was raised in Brooklyn, New York in a Christian, Pentecostal home. As far back as he can remember his father provided a musical environment for him and his siblings. “Their were more musical instruments in my house than toys” (Jr.). His first instrument of choice was the drums. At the age of nine, his father began giving him guitar classes. He then introduced Jr. to the trumpet at the age of twelve. Like every youngster, Jr. did not take it serious during the first few years. Regardless of the fact, he still maintained a semi-decent practice routine.
At the age of nineteen, Jr. began to take the trumpet serious. His strongest motivation came from a desire to praise God with the talent he had bestowed upon him, and the “guys” from AIC. In the time that Jr. has been playing trumpet, he has been influenced by trumpet players such as Wynton Marsalis, Arturo Sandoval, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie and Clifford Brown. |
