Jose Lugo
Born in Brooklyn, NY. Jose had a rough childhood. He suffered from severe nosebleeds due to a disconnected vein in his nasal area. He was constantly admitted into the hospital. “To make a long story short, I died twice in two different occasions while in the hospital but my mother's prayers brought me back to life” -Jose. Jose became inspired to learn how to play an instrument at the age of 14. Growing up, he sat in church and watched Samuel Gonzales Sr. (Chamo’s father) play the guitar. He was so interested in learning how to play the guitar that he was able to memorize a few chords by just observing him. His father bought him his first guitar and with a musical library book, he learned more chords and eventually started playing with Samuel Sr.. Soon after, Jose developed an interest for the keyboard and his mother bought him his first keyboard. Jose remembers sitting down with his keyboard and guitar and trying to transfer all of the notes that he knew from guitar to keyboard. Jose was able to accomplish this task. “This was time consuming, but when you love something, the effort seems almost like no effort at all” - Jose.
Through the years, Jose has learned that playing music for the Lord is very serious. You have to commit yourself to him if you want to be able to touch lives through music.
“I am honored to be playing for AIC and I know that we will overcome any obstacles that come our way as long as He's number one in our lives” - Jose. |
